Privacy Policy

This page describes how Award Party handles information when you use awardparty.app. It is a factual description of our product, not legal advice.

Who we are

Award Party is the award-show prediction service at awardparty.app. We help people create private prediction parties, invite friends, vote, and follow a live leaderboard.

Questions about this policy: email hello@awardparty.app or use the contact form after you sign in.

Information you give us

When you create an account, Clerk (our authentication provider) collects sign-in details such as your email address and name. We store a matching user record (email, name, username, and profile image URL) so the app can show parties, invites, and scores.

If you create or join a party, we store party details, participants, votes, optional party chat, invitations, waitlist interest, and feedback or contact messages you send. Party owners can hide member emails from other guests.

Information we create in the product

We generate invite codes, recap share links, unsubscribe tokens, and similar product records so parties, emails, and public recap pages work. Installing Award Party as a web app (PWA) uses the same account and first-party storage; it does not add a separate advertising product.

Cookies and similar storage

Essential cookies and similar storage keep the product working: Clerk session cookies for sign-in, Cloudflare Turnstile on sign-in and sign-up, and the NEXT_LOCALE cookie for your language.

We also store your analytics choice in a first-party cookie named ap_analytics_consent and in localStorage so the banner does not return on every visit.

You can change that choice later on this page. Rejecting analytics does not sign you out or reset your language.

Analytics and session replay

If you accept, we load PostHog in your browser. PostHog may set cookies, record pageviews and product events, identify your account (user id, email, and name), and record a session replay of your visit. Replay is masked for passwords and other sensitive profile fields.

If you reject or have not chosen yet, we do not initialize PostHog, do not identify you to PostHog, and do not start session replay. We do not use advertising pixels or other analytics tools besides PostHog.

Payments

Party Pass purchases are processed by Stripe on Stripe Checkout. Card details are entered on Stripe, not on Award Party. We store server-side payment records such as checkout session and payment intent identifiers so we can unlock the party. We do not store full card numbers.

Email

We send transactional email through Resend, including invites, ballot reminders, announcements you can unsubscribe from, and copies of contact or feedback messages. Sender addresses use awardparty.app (for example, notification addresses). Marketing announcements include an unsubscribe link.

How we use information

We use this information to run accounts and parties, send the emails you request or that the product needs, process Party Pass payments, prevent abuse, improve the product, and respond to feedback or support requests. We do not sell your personal information.

Services that help us operate

We use companies that process data for us: Clerk (authentication), Neon (Postgres database), Stripe (payments), Resend (email), PostHog (analytics and session replay after you accept), Cloudflare (Turnstile bot checks on auth pages), and our hosting provider.

Those providers process data on our instructions to deliver Award Party. They have their own practices for the data they receive.

How long we keep information

We keep account, party, vote, chat, payment, and support records while they are needed to run the service and for a reasonable period afterward. If you delete your account, we remove the Award Party records we control that are tied to that account, except where we must keep a limited record (for example, a payment identifier needed for bookkeeping).

Your choices, including account deletion

You can update your profile from Manage account in the app. You can unsubscribe from announcement emails. You can accept or reject PostHog analytics on this page.

You can delete your account from Manage account, or email hello@awardparty.app and ask us to delete it. Account deletion removes the user record we store and related party data we control. Hosts who want a party removed can also contact us.

Children

Award Party is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, email hello@awardparty.app and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this page when the product changes. The date at the top is the latest revision. Continued use of Award Party after an update means the revised description applies.

How to contact us

Email hello@awardparty.app or send a message from the contact form. Award Party is operated at awardparty.app.
